Magic Valley Bassmasters
April 2009 News Letter
Scyler brought the meeting to order at 7:05
Thanks to everyone that was at Brownlee, we had a
great turnout with all three clubs. The bbq went well until the rain came and
some of us got wet. The side dishes and desserts were also great, we have not
seen that much food at a bbq for a long time, thanks to everyone that
participated.
The added money for this tournament came from
Pickett Equipment and Southern Idaho Freightliner, make sure and thank the
sponsors for all they do for us. Congratulations to the winning teams 1st Place-Shane & Cody Riddle 13.69#'s; 2nd Place-Kelly Lee & Terry King 13.62#'s;
3rd Place-Anthony & Ed Vaughn 10.67#'s; 4th Place-Pat Callen & Ron
Haffner 9.84#'s. The first day Big Fish and of the tournament went to Lou
Probasco 3.96#'s and the 2nd day Big Fish went to Scott Logan 3.86#'s.
Congratulations to all the winners and anyone that caught any fish for those two
days. Thanks to Steve & Kevin for taking care of the trailer for this
tournament.
Scyler was able to contact John at Sportsman's
Warehouse and they will not be able to sponsor the trailer this year, but John
said that it may be possible next year and that he will have a new
logo for the trailer. Scyler is still trying to contact a few other
sponsors, if he is not able to reach them, they will be removed from the trailer
so we can get some new sponsors that want on the trailer. So we have
a $400 spot on the front or we can split it up and make 2- $200 spots. Bro Azevedo, Mason Trophies , and Bill Millenkamp have showed interest in being on
the trailer. Western Marine still wants to stay on the trailer and will pay for
within a few months.
Scyler passed around a sample brochure for everyone
to proof and give more input. We will be able to pass them out at the Sports
Show at CSI. The date for this this event is May 1st - 3rd. We will be holding a
Reel Kids Casting event all three days. Scyler will have more information after
he talks to the Idaho Bass Hunters. We will be setting up on Thursday night
April 30 along with Brad, I know that Brad will need all the help he can get in
setting up his booth and cabin display, any and all help would be greatly
appreciated.
Scyler checked on the weigh in slips at Standard
Printing, it will cost around $75.00 that includes the one time set up fee.
Julie Riddle will check on another place that may be cheaper.
In Federation news, Bruce Flesher is still
working on the Federation Banquet. He will be appointing a committee at the
April 16th meeting. If anyone has pictures or news for the federation web
page send them to Steve Day through the Federation web page www.idahobassfed.com . There is a survey
on the Federations' web page if anyone would like to participate, it is
sponsored by one of the Bass Fishing Colleges from back East.
Congratulations to Brandon Craner for getting
5th Place out of 44 anglers at the TBF National Championship in Missouri. Scyler
would encourage you to get on the Federation web page and read Brandon's and
Bruce's story on this event, it is a really good one.
Scyler received a letter from Doug Megargle of
the Fish & Game asking us to participate in tagging bass at our Open. They
are not reward tags, they are wanting to know if the fish are being stock piled
when released and how far they are moving after being released. Scyler will try
to have Doug from Fish & Game come to our May meeting for more information
on the tags and how to do the tagging.
Scyler went over the letter that a lot of people got
in the mail about the CAST event. He is still trying to have the event on a
pond or lake and to fish from shore, but is not getting much feed back from the
BOR. Dale & Cheryl offered to draft a letter to explain our position on
this matter and maybe one that we could publish in the local news
papers.
We have had a change in our fishing schedule;
the September tournament on Massacre Rocks has been changed to August 29 &
30 and the August tournament on CJ has been changed to September 19th &
20th, the second day at Massacre Rocks will be a possible draw
tournament.
The club voted in 4 new members, Tom Fleming,
Heather Burkhalter, Craig and Susan Stringer . Welcome and good
luck.
If anyone has not renewed their membership to
the FLW, please make your membership current as it affects the clubs' insurance
through the TBF. Please bring your FLW card to the next meeting so I am able to
get your number and when it expires. FLW has mentioned changing the renewal date
from your anniversary date to a calendar year date, as in January 1st to
December 31st.
Don't forget to bring your insurance papers to
the next tournament, if you have not already done so. I didn't receive everyone's
insurance papers that fished Brownlee, please get them in so we don't have an
issue.
Scyler closed the meeting at
8:15.
See everyone at C.J. Strike
